Meet the CEO

Ruchi Shah
Founder/CEO

My name is Ruchi and I’m a third year medical student at Stony Brook University. These past six years have been an incredible journey, turning a problem I saw into inspiration for my science project and now my company. I have been able to combine my passion for science research, public health, science communication and social entrepreneurship throughout this journey. I am grateful to have a team of passionate interns to help bring this all-natural mosquito repellent to parts of the world that need it.

Simrat Kaur
Head Intern

Major: Biology

My name is Simrat Kaur and I am a senior at Stony Brook University on the
pre-med track majoring in biology and planning to add on a psychology major. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and now live in Queens. I love to read, dance, and sing. Mosquitoes Be Gone is a company that is doing something that the world needs more people to do. Coming from an Indian background I have seen the struggle and suffering that comes from not being able to obtain remedies and products that are readily available for others. As an intern I am excited to be a part in helping others while gaining experiences and pursuing my passion.

Growing up, my family and I frequently took trips to India, where the effects of mosquito borne illnesses are extremely prevalent. Intern

Majors: Biomedical Engineering, Applied Math and Statistics

I am a Biomedical Engineering and Applied Math and Statistics double major. My interest in mosquito borne illnesses was sparked during my internship at Centre ValBio, an NGO based in Ranomafana National Park in Madagascar. I was given the opportunity to shadow the facility’s health team and witnessed several cases of malaria. After that life changing experience, I was determined to find a way to help. Mosquitoes Be Gone is the perfect place for me to do this.

Nicole Zhao
Intern

Major: Biology
Minor: Business

My name is Nicole and I am a junior at Stony Brook University majoring in biology and minoring in business. Being someone that is driven by a cause to help others, Mosquitos Be Gone gives me the opportunity to do so on a tangible and large scale. I can combine my love for the sciences to help develop a product that helps those that do not have access to the technology and supplies that we take for granted. I have seen first-hand countries that are not as developed and something that is not prevalent to us may mean the world to them. I want to spread our knowledge and technology to others and being on the Mosquitos Be Gone team can take me one step closer.

Kunal Shah
Intern

Major: Biology
Minor: Chemistry

Hearing about Mosquitoes Be Gone LLC through Stony Brook University’s Scholars for Medicine program has drawn me to the company and its purpose. As a frequent visitor to India’s impoverished villages, I have also witnessed firsthand the toll mosquito-transmitted diseases can take throughout an unprotected community. An all-natural repellant can thus benefit this community and millions of communities like it without harming the ecosystem. As a part of a zealous Mosquitoes Be Gone team, I will indulge myself in the cause by contributing my science research skills. By working efficiently and cooperatively with a team of like-minded enthusiasts, I aim to further the company’s inevitable outreach and bring it steps closer to its goal of aiding the disadvantaged.
